Robert Murley

Bio/Description

Robert S. Murley ’76 S72 P07 P10 is a Vice Chairman and Senior Advisor, UBS. In addition to his leadership role within the firm, Mr. Murley is responsible for several of the Firm's largest investment banking clients including Boeing, Cargill, Aon, Deere, Ford and Baxter.

Mr. Murley joined Credit Suisse First Boston in 1975, was named a Managing Director in 1984, appointed Vice Chairman in 1998 and Chairman of Investment Banking in 2005.  He began his career in the New York office and in 1983, he relocated to the Firm's Chicago office.  

Mr. Murley received his B.A. from Princeton University, his M.B.A. from the UCLA Anderson School of Management and his M.S. in International Economics from the London School of Economics. Mr. Murley also serves on numerous corporate and civic boards.  He is Chairman of the Board and Lead Director of Stericycle and a Director of Brown Advisory and Harbour Group.  He is also a past Director of Benefytt Technologies, Inc. (formerly Health Insurance Innovations), Apollo Education Group, the nation's largest for profit education company, and Stone Energy Corporation.  Mr. Murley is an Emeritus Charter Trustee of Princeton University and the Princeton University Investment Company and Trustee Emeritus and Chairman Emeritus of the Board of the Educational Testing Service (Princeton, New Jersey).  His civic activities include being former Chair and current member of the Board of Advisors of the UCLA Anderson School of Management, Vice Chair of the Board of Directors of Ann & Robert H. Lurie Children’s Hospital of Chicago, former Chair and current Member of the Board of Lurie Children’s Foundation, Trustee of the Museum of Science and Industry of Chicago, Trustee of the Berklee College of Music, Trustee of the High Meadows Graduate School of Teaching and Learning, Trustee of Lake Forest College and a member of the Economic Club and the Commercial Club of Chicago.  Mr. Murley and his wife have three children and reside in Lake Forest, Illinois.
